We'd like to welcome Richard Moolick & Betty Smith as guests at the party! Their addition to the pot luck will be Golden Sauce Glazed Chicken. (And that sounds pretty good!)

We've received another RSVP, this time from Mike Rice & Nancy Alyssa Haas! It looks like they'll be bringing some type of side dish

Our friends Tracy Santa Cruz & Tracey Nahrwold of Pin-Up Pastries in Tucson will be unable to attend the party but they have donated two Half Dozen Orders of their award winning cupcakes to the Charity Raffle!

They said they would be happy to coordinate a delivery option should the winners be from outside of the Tucson area.

It's been a busy week and I apologize for the delay in posting a recap of our event from last weekend.

As has been the case in the past, we had a great time at the party! The food and the company was fantastic and it is always wonderful to spend time with such good people. The White Elephant gift game is always good for some laughs and this year was no exception. We had some very nice items that were "stolen" more then once and the Rio Solado Mugs appeared once again and are in the great care of Mark & Debbie Motta. Be advised that they have promised to bring them back again next year!

Our Charity Raffle was also a huge success. Our Grand Prizes this year were a GMG Daniel Boone pellet grill/smoker donated by Mike West and BBQ Island and won by Aaron & Christa Moon, a GMG Davy Crockett pellet grill/smoker donated by Green Mountain Grills and won by Johan & Cheryl Magnusson and a $100 Gift Card donated by Snake River Farms and won by Dennis McGrath. We also had over 60 items in our General Prize group and those items were won by people throughout the West. In all, we raised a lot of money and a lot of toys for Toys For Tots-Maricopa.

Pictured below is a Cashier's Check in the amount of $2,871 as well as a picture of SSgt Robert Martin, USMC, the Toy Coordinator for Toys For Tots-Maricopa receiving our donation.

We also sent a donation letter and the text of that letter appears below:

    Dear SSgt Martin,

On Saturday, December 17, 2016, the Grand Canyon State BBQ Association held its 3rd Annual Holiday Pot Luck Social for all of our Members, Partners and Guests. It has become a tradition for our organization to ask all who attend the event to bring a new, unwrapped toy and to then donate all toys collected to the Toys For Tots-Maricopa charity. As was the case in previous years, we collected a large number of toys for the cause! Due to the late date of our party, we brought our donation directly to your facility on Monday, December, 19 while you began the process of sorting all of the donations collected throughout Maricopa County.

In addition to our toy drive, we also hold a charity raffle at our event with prizes that are donated by our members and partners. These items ranged from top of the line pellet grills to gift certificates to barbeque rubs and sauces. Our goal is always to beat our contribution from the previous year which was $2,215 in 2015. We are very happy to report that we achieved our goal! It was my honor and great pleasure to personally deliver to you a Cashier’s Check in the amount of $2,871.00 payable to Toys For Tots-Maricopa. This check represents 100% of the proceeds from our raffle.

Thank you very much for the great work you and all of your staff and volunteers do from all of us at the Grand Canyon State BBQ Association, our Members, our Partners and our Guests!

    Sincerely,

    Vincent Carrocci, President
    Grand Canyon State BBQ Association

Thanks very much to all who donated items to our raffle, to all who purchased tickets and to all who donated toys! Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 2, 2017 and please plan to attend our 4th Annual event!
