Grand Canyon State BBQ Forums Rules

Although the Administrators and Moderators of Grand Canyon State BBQ Forums will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this site, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of Grand Canyon State BBQ Forums, nor vBulletin Solutions, Inc. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The owners of Grand Canyon State BBQ Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any content item for any reason.

Basic Conduct

• Members of Grand Canyon State BBQ Forums (hereafter referred to as “The Forums”) are welcome to post information regarding and related to all aspects of barbeque and the barbeque lifestyle. That is our primary purpose as a community.

• The Forums are a “real names” community and members must use their real first and last names as their User Name. All member accounts will be modified, if necessary, to meet this requirement or deleted should the necessary information not be provided at the time of member registration. The use of nicknames, handles, team names or any other form of identification will not be allowed as a User Name.

• The ability to post on The Forums is free of charge but registration as a member is required in order to do so. Reading The Forums does not require membership.

• The Forums should be considered as a “family site” and the conduct of all members should reflect this idea. To that end, any displays of or posts containing/alluding to bigotry, vulgarity, racism, hatred, prejudice, profanity, sexual content, slurs, etc., are strictly prohibited.

• Members are welcome to post images and photographs so long as they do not contain anything sexually suggestive. Risqué or pornographic images are not allowed and will be removed without notification. This includes but is not limited to images used as Avatars and in Member Profiles.

• Personal attacks of any kind will not be tolerated. Posts containing any such attack will be removed without notification. This includes, but is not limited to, material contained in Avatars, Signatures and Member Profiles.

Administration & Moderation

• The Forum Administration & Moderation Staff is here to help our members use The Forums, to guide and to enforce the community rules.

• The decisions made by our Forum Administration & Moderation Staff are final.

• If you find that something you have posted has been moderated, accept that it was done in accordance to the rules of The Forums and to correct any infringement that has occurred.

• If you have a question or concern regarding any moderation that has taken place, contact the Forum Administrator or Moderation Staff via our Private Messaging (PM) system. Publicly challenging or complaining about a moderation action will not be tolerated and doing so may result in the limitation of one’s ability to post and/or banning from The Forums.

• Repeated breaking of the rules of The Forums may result in the permanent removal of a member’s posting and reading privileges and/or being permanently banned from The Forums.

• From time to time, threads will stray off topic or become “hijacked”. This normal in the world of internet forums and we certainly expect that it will happen here. At times, the Forum Moderation Staff will find it necessary to clean up a thread that may have been hijacked so as to keep the thread on topic. Please accept that this, too, is normal in the world of internet forums.

Advertising & Solicitation

• Advertising of any kind is not allowed unless the member is a Site Partner of The Forums. This includes the listing of any business, product, service or class in a member's Avatar, Profile, Profile Picture or Signature. Any breach of The Forums advertising policy will result in the removal of the offending material and may also result in the limitation of one’s ability to post on and/or banning from The Forums.

• Direct sales pitches by commercial businesses, business owners or members selling any product, service or class are prohibited unless they are a Site Partner. If you are interested in becoming a Site Partner, please contact the Administrator at

• Active, contributing members of The Forums may make use of the "Classifieds" section of The Forums to inform the community of personal items they may have for sale or would be interested in purchasing (i.e. grills, smokers, equipment, appliances, etc. Items such as rubs, sauces, classes, etc., are not eligible to be listed or requested in the "Classifieds" section.) Should, in the opinion of the Forum Administration or Moderation Staff, a member be abusing this privilege, that member’s ability to sell their items may be restricted or eliminated entirely. Simply put, if your primary contribution to The Forums is to sell your items, you will not be allowed to do so. This includes food related blogs.

• Advertising of any kind or attempting to recruit or solicit members of The Forums to another site via public posting or via our PM system is not allowed.

• Solicitations of any kind are prohibited.

• Linking to sites that include or are primarily barbeque related forums for the purpose of promotion is not allowed. This includes but is not limited to links that may appear in Avatars, Signatures and/or Member Profiles. Any links of this nature will be removed without notification.

• Links in a member’s signature to any websites that contain forums are strictly prohibited.

• Linking to obvious “voices of authority” on a subject will be allowed when referring to a specific question or situation. Example: posting a link to a recipe that appears on a food related site.

• If you post a link to your own website, it is required that you post a reciprocal link to The Forums on your site. If you have a link to your site or blog in your forum signature, your site or blog must contain a link back to our site. This will be verified from time to time by The Forums.

• If your signature or profile is edited by the Forum Moderation Staff to remove a link, the link cannot be added back until a verified reciprocal link is in place on the site to which you wish to post a link.

• If you do post a link to material on another website, it is strongly recommended that you provide a brief synopsis of the material you are linking to and that you give credit to the source of the material. Give anyone reading your post enough information to help determine whether they may have enough interest in the material to click through.

• Members have the ability to create a "Signature" through their User Control Panel which will appear at the bottom of each post they make. Signatures are limited to no more than three (3) lines, must appear flush left and font size may not be larger than Font Size 2. The total number of characters in a signature is limited to 200 with no more than 90 characters per line. Advertising, promotion or solicitation of any kind is strictly prohibited.

Copyrighted Material

• The posting of copyrighted materials is discouraged unless the posting member is either the copyright holder or has express written permission from the copyright holder to post or otherwise distribute the copyrighted material. There are, however, some acceptable circumstances where copyrighted material may be posted. For example, it is acceptable to post a link to a clip hosted by TLC of the television show “BBQ Pitmasters”. Alternately, it is not acceptable to post a link to an entire episode of that program that an unauthorized third party is hosting on their website. Another example of acceptable posting would be a link to a recipe from a cookbook hosted on It is not acceptable to post your favorite recipes from a cookbook you recently purchased. There is much debate among Intellectual Property attorneys regarding what is and what is not legal. Since we are not Intellectual Property attorneys, as a community we would prefer not to test those legal waters.

Content on Other Forums

• In the event that a member should have an issue with another internet forum, that issue should remain between the member and that internet forum. What happens at BBQ should remain there. Please do not bring any of those issues here to vent, rally support or launch any kind of campaign directed at any other forum or individual member of this or any other forum. The Administrative Staff and Moderation Teams at each individual forum are responsible for their forum and their actions, neither of which are relevant here.

• Grand Canyon State BBQ reserves the right to modify and/or amend these rules at any time.

• Failure by any member to comply with rules of The Forums may result in the temporary or permanent restriction of posting privileges and/or access to The Forums. Repeated violations of the rules of The Forums will definitely result in the permanent restriction of access to The Forums.

Grand Canyon State BBQ would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the ownership, administration and staff of The BBQ Brethren for their assistance in the articulation of our Forum Rules.
